Venta, the neck warmer to end all pub discussions about neck warmers has had a pattern revamp. In the interests of updating, I have made a couple of small adjustments to the pattern, donned my lippy and taken some new photographs, and Venta is now up for sale, here through my site (having previously only been available on knitonthenet). Venta uses the Roman Rib stitch pattern to create stretch and texture. Knitted flat, the directions call for 23 sets of buttons and buttonholes. Although these can be fastened all the way up (to cover the face, as discussed in the pub), I prefer to use the neck warmer more as a statement collar, fastening 14 to 16 depending on my outfit. It can be worn with or without a coat, in place of a scarf and fits much like a cowl around the neck (ie not completely flat).
The sample is knitted up in some Jamieson’s Aran, but I will be perfectly honest and say that it is a mite itchy at times, so I also have a much more comfortable red version that takes one skein of Cascade 220 and about 70m of some contrast yarn, knitted on 4.5mm needles.
